Foreign nationals who wish to travel to Spain must be in possession of a visa, unless they are nationals from countries which are not included in the list of countries with the obligation to carry a visa in order to cross external borders for stays in the Schengen Area of no more than three months (90 days) in a period of six months (180 days) from the date of entry into the Schengen Area.
Short term visas (“Schengen visas”) allow the holder to for stay stays in the Schengen Area of for no more than three months (90 days) in a period of six months (180 days) from the date of entry into the Schengen Area .
Kindly note that the visa must be requested at the Embassy of the Schengen country where the applicant will spend more time during the trip, or of the main destination. Should you apply at a different Embassy or travel to a country different from the one that issued the visa, you may be prevented from boarding or entering the Schengen area.
Please note that the mere possession of a visa does not entitle automatic right of entry. The holders of visa are requested to present proof that they fulfill the entry conditions, as provided for in Art.5 of the Schengen Borders Code
Required documents for all visa categories
Please note the following essentials must be met by all applicants submitting their applications for visa.
A valid passport: it must be valid at least 6 months after the intended date of departure of the Schengen area. Please note that 2 blank pages are needed. If you do not have 2 blank pages, a new passport must be obtained before submitting the application.
Documents stating financial means and purpose of the trip, plane ticket and accommodation
Required Travel Insurance
A medical insurance is compulsory for visitors to Spain and other Schengen states. You may provide either a policy from an insurance company based in Europe or in Thailand. Please note that only certain insurance companies in Thailand are accepted. The insurance must cover at least 30 000 Euro or 1 500 000 Baht and include costs for medical treatment, hospitalization and repatriation due to injury or medical reasons. The insurance must be valid in all Schengen states and cover the total length of the visit. Please ensure your name is reflecting on your Insurance Policy.
The reimbursement from the insurance company must be payable in any EU-country, Switzerland and Lichtenstein. The insurance certificate must be shown when the application is submitted. Please note that you have to bring your travel insurance with you when travelling due to inspections of relevant documents at the border control when entering the Schengen area.
